There is always something to do!
One of the things I enjoy in the Netherlands is going out. It is safe, public transport is good, you can cycle everywhere and there is always something to do.
One of the must-see experiences is the tulips in the month of April. I arrived in April 2022 just in time for the tulips. A friend suggested we go by car, but you can also rent a bike.
We stopped about 15 times to take pictures with my friends French bulldogs. We met some South Africans with whom we have only chatted via Facebook messenger before. They turned out to be really cool people.
One of the stops we made was at a food truck. The man working the truck asked us where we were from as we spoke Afrikaans. And the next moment he started playing the song “Gee my ‘n F250” sung by the artist Appel. Nostalgic indeed.
This was my first experience that didn't cost much other than food.
There is a lot to do in the Netherlands, especially during the week. Join Facebook groups/Instagram to see what theatre shows, bands and outdoor events are on.
Another thing that helps is looking at the pictures of people and finding out where it was taken. If you add them all to google maps and plan a solo route, you can really see a lot for yourself.
