Moving to the Netherlands is no walk in the park
Moving to the Netherlands has proven to be more challenging than I had anticipated. While I knew it wouldn't be a walk in the park, the initial weeks were far more chaotic than I could have imagined. At times, I found myself contemplating the idea of turning back and retreating to the familiar. However, there is something about this country that captivates you and keeps you hooked.
Prior to my arrival, I had been warned about the difficulties of adapting to a new culture. Yet, since I've been here, I have encountered a diverse range of people who have been incredibly supportive and kind. From my neighbour offering me tea upon hearing my tears to the helpful guidance provided by the lady at the grocery store when I was lost, these interactions have left a lasting impression on me.
While there have been countless testing moments that have made me crave the comfort of my life back home, it is during these moments that I have discovered these flickers of warmth and kindness that reassure me that I am in the right place.
