Moving to the Netherlands

My fiancé and I embarked on a thrilling journey to the Netherlands on September 19, 2023, armed with just four suitcases. The adrenaline of the move was palpable, and looking back, we couldn't be happier that we took the plunge. 

From the get-go, what struck us the most was the incredible warmth and helpfulness of everyone we encountered. Every interaction was a testament to the kindness, assistance, and patience of the people we met, even as we stumbled through our evolving attempts at speaking Dutch. 

Zuid Limburg emerged as a hidden gem, captivating us with its stunning beauty and serene ambiance. Beyond the luxury of uninterrupted electricity, we were pleasantly surprised to discover that vehicles actually stop for pedestrians, adding an extra layer of charm to our daily experiences. The seamless and efficient public transportation system, whether by bus or train, left us in awe. 

Our explorations took us to vibrant locales like Maastricht, Valkenburg, and the bustling shops of Eindhoven. We even had a blast at the October Beer fest in Sittard. 

The Netherlands, with its rich history and breathtaking architecture, has proven to be more than just a place to live – it's a destination with stories etched in every corner. And, to top it all off, I feel incredibly fortunate to be working in a castle! 

Our journey has been nothing short of an exhilarating adventure, and though we're still finding our way around, each day brings new discoveries as we gradually make the Netherlands our cherished home.
